Pig Tale

While we were all at the beauty shop today, I asked for a French braid tutorial. I found out that I've been pretty much on the right track, and I got some helpful pointers, too. Since D needed full access to her head, Peeper actually sat in the chair all by herself, on the booster, rather than in a lap.

I wish I'd gotten a picture of the look on her face when she saw the braid in the mirror. I don't know if it was because it was different from how I do it (visible, instead of flat) or just better than how I do it, or she was seeing it "in person" instead of a photo, but she was just so excited.

Then we got to visit with the other hairdresser's newest pet. This is Wilbur.

Little Groupie

This morning afternoon, I was in the mood to do something a little different with Peeper's hair, so I suggested that we put it "in two pigtails - just like Hannah."

She was so excited!

Rapunzel

Peeper has been wanting her hair braided "like Rapunzel" for the past few days. I should probably check YouTube for French braid tutorials, because I clearly need some help with this.

She's also wanted it braided at night (just regular braided low ponytail, not French braid) which has been wonderful, because she's getting almost no tangles overnight, and I'm not laying on it, pulling it, etc when I'm in bed with her.

Of course, it is only so long. She still has to go the prosthetic route to really play Rapunzel.

Yes, that is a bathrobe belt starring in the role of Rapunzel's Hair.

A Valiant Effort

Yes, I realize that this is not very pretty, especially that one piece over on the left that got left behind and had to try to catch up, but for my very first attempt at any sort of Frenchish-braidish type thing, on a wiggly three year old, I'm kind of proud of it.

Of course, it only lasted for about five minutes, as long as she was Rapunzel. As soon as she morphed back into Baby Bear, she insisted that I take it out, "because bears don't have braids!"

Yet Another New 'Do

This evening, I tried putting Peeper's hair up in one ponytail, instead of pigtails, and this time, it worked!

Within a couple of hours, enough little curly bits had fallen out of the ponytail that I thought it actually looked even better.

(Here, she's playing "trick-or-treat" with Mommy. She's "dressed up as Dorothy" complete with Toto.)

I told Shrike "You know, now that she's got enough hair for a bun, she can take ballet!"

Um, no. Not any time soon.

Spiffy

We had haircuts today, so we all look spiffy now. Especially Peeper.

I wish I'd gotten a picture of what she looked like for a minute there, though. After putting up her piggy tails, the hairdresser noticed a piece that was supposed to be bangs, but had been missed, so she cut it.

When she got down and came over to me, I looked at her and said, "Um, can you take another look at her bangs?"

They were a perfect slant from one side of her forehead to the other!

I don't know if she was wiggling, or it happened when she fixed that part or what, but that was not the look we were going for.

Shrike didn't see it before she fixed it up, so she asked what had happened, and the hairdresser said, "It looked like you cut it!"

Shrike didn't find that nearly as amusing as I did.

Another New 'Do

The last time I tried to put Peeper's hair in one ponytail, it was too short on the sides, but it worked pretty well tonight.

You'd think this would be faster than two piggie tails, but it took much longer. What's that about?

Experimentation

I've been experimenting a bit with barrettes in Peeper's hair, and haven't had much luck in keeping them in, but I tried a slightly different technique this evening and they seemed to hold up much better. I still think the piggy-tails are the cutest, but this is much faster, for just running to Target and such.

"Give Mama a big smile!"

And here's Peeper doing a little experimenting of her own. Why yes, that is the dogs' water bowl. Why do you ask?

Daily Peep: Big Girl Pigtails

We all got our hair "did" today, before our big trip to Texas. (Did I mention that? Just me and Peep this time; we leave in the morning.)

When we were done, Ms D, the hairdresser, put Peeper's hair up - and did a much better job of it than I've ever done.

By the time we got home and took photos, a few of her curls had escaped, but when she first did it, all of her hair was in the pigtails. I had no idea it was long enough to do that.

It was really cute, but as she was doing it, there was a little part of me that just wanted to yell, "No! Not like that! She's a just a baaay-beeee!"

But, really, she's not so much, is she?

Daily Peep: Hair Ball

Peeper's usually yanking her pigtails out, any time she remembers that they're there (I just love it when strangers say "Oh how cute!" and flip them - reminding her that they exist, so she can pull them out!) but tonight, she picked up a holder from my desk (which she'd yanked out last night) and put it on her head, so I took that as a request to put her hair up.

Would you believe she sat there and let me do it, with none of the usual drama?

Little weirdo.

Daily Peep: Pebbles Peeper at the Park

As is fitting for the first day of Spring, temperatures were in the mid-70s here and the weather was absolutely gorgeous.

Shrike had to work, but Peeper and I spent a little time at the park.

(And test drove a new hair do. You likey?)

Pebbles and Dino?
