Pizza Bake

I'm sure I'm not the first person to make this dish, or something very similar, but I "invented" it on our way home from getting the Christmas tree, I didn't specifically read about it anywhere.

I can't tell you the amounts of anything, but basically I just layered:

Canned crescent roll dough (4 triangles, with a bit of stretching and smushing, fit a 9x9 pan perfectly)

Pizza sauce
Mozzarella cheese
Pepperoni (chopped, so you get some in every bite)
Pizza sauce
Cheese
Dough
Sauce
Cheese
Parmesan cheese

and baked it for about 20 - 25 minutes at 325 (which is probably more like 350 in your oven).

It probably could have cooked a bit longer, because the dough was still doughy in spots, but we actually kind of like it that way, so it was fine with us.

If I were cooking it for other people, though, I'd probably cover it with foil for about 25 minutes, then uncover and bake until the cheese on top is all melty and brown and yummy.

  1. Yum! I actually made pretty much the same thing the first time I was going to try to make a pizza bubble, but realized I didn't have a bundt pan. I was using Grandes biscuits though and I like to never got it to cook all the way through!

  2. Here's how Christmas preparations are going at my house. I made my Christmas wish list, and we talked about making fruitcake. That's it. You guys are amazing. And the pizza bake sounds delicious and I think I'll try it. I also think I'll be making some Mrs. Claus's nipples as part of my holiday baking.

  3. If you like thin and somewhat crispy pizza {my fav) you can buy a pizza pan with little holes which let the moisture out during baking. I got mine at amazon.com for less than $10 and I love it. It's a round non-stick made by Farberwear.

  4. I actually saw those pizza pans at Aldi today, and considered getting one. I'm the thin-and-crispy fan at our house. Shrike and Peeper are all about the crust.
