Numbers Game

As I just described, she has gathered up all the numerals: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, K, 8, 9 and 0.

In her defense, when I asked, "Hmmm, is there anything there that's not a number?" she did point to the K.

But when I suggested we add the 7? Hoo-boy. That was a no-go.

  1. What's wrong with seven? Maybe she's been looking at it upside down and thinking it's not a number--it's letter L. Just a thought. By the way, I think she's very advanced with her number and letter recognition. (and colours too.)

  2. Maybe she doesn't like it because it is more complicated - two syllables and all.

  3. I'm with LadyKay on this one.. it's two syllables. Who wants to take the time to say all that???

  4. Those are my two theories, as well. She occassionally will say it when counting, but it takes a lot of coaching.

I think she confuses it with "1" as well.

And, she also used to turn the "L" upsidedown and call it "1."

I'm sure she'll get it sorted out before long. It's pretty funny now, though, how adamant she is about not wanting the "7" in her pile of numbers!
