It's Official - We're Not Crazy!

We figure we'll put this in the baby book, then, in thirteen or fourteen years, when the kid says, "You people are crazy!" we'll pull it out as proof that, "We weren't before you came along!"

Re: Shrike & Whozat

Dear Reproductive Endrocrinologist's Psychological Services Lady:

I have had the pleasure of working in outpatient psychotherapy with this couple since October 2006. Their journey toward parenthood began in earnest during the course of this work; they have considered the issues noted in the guidelines throughout the process.

Questions about pursing treatment with donor sperm were relatively easily resolved. Conflicts within the couple's relationship have been worked through; neither has major psychological issues that would be a significant impediment to a positive outcome.

Questions about disclosure and secrecy versus privacy have essentially been moot given their same-gendered status; for example, they plan to incorporate their donor's profile information into their child's memory book.

They are, and continue to be, open about their necessary process in bringing a child into being.

Certainly, a positive therapy relationship has been developed and will continue in order to address particular problems and/or provide ongoing support.

This couple is fully prepared to proceed with treatment. It is strongly recommended that they be permitted to advance in the process.

Please feel free to contact me with questions or for further information.

Sincerely,
Dr. T.
Shrike & Whozat's Shrink
