Farm Tour

This morning, Peeper and toured the farm where we get our CSA veggies, with some MOMS Club friends.

I would have liked to have taken more photos, but my phone battery was pooping out.

Prizes!

When I first told Peeper about the concert, and Miss S coming for all evening, I may have promised her "a surprise" the next morning.

Of course, you know we made good on it.

The bathing suit she needed anyway, so we figured we'd throw it into the prize bag. The red, white and blue sequined bowtie was a buck, and the silly string was a couple of bucks. Well worth it, for the fun we had last night. (We won't discuss what it cost for eight hours of baby sitting, plus an "Oh My God! You built our child a puppet theater!" bonus.)

Melissa Etheridge Concert

Shrike and I went to see Melissa Etheridge in concert tonight (okay, technically last night, but I'm post dating a bit) about two hours from home. Miss S babysat, and Peeper did great! She even went to sleep for her!

The image quality of these photos and videos is pretty awful, and the sound quality is worse, but hey, it's proof that we were there!

Shrike was a bit skeptical about the whole thing, but I think she enjoyed herself.

As did Peeper and Miss S. This is what we found when we came home.

Baby Sitting

Peeper finally got a chance to hold Baby N, under strict supervision, of course.

(The pirate ship onesie was a gift from us. Target clearance rack, baby!)

Open the Hangar!

For a kid who was never spoon-fed as a baby, Peeper sure does get a kick out of "the airplane thing."

Hot Dog!

At the end of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, they started singing The Hot Dog Song, and she had to run and get a hotdog, so she could join in.

(Note to the uninitiated: The Hot Dog Song is not actually about hotdogs.)

Fireside Friends

For the second week in a row, Peeper and I have found ourselves in A & M's backyard until all hours, enjoying a campfire and s'mores with them, T's family and a couple of other folks that we don't really know. (Different ones each week.)

If we're going to make a habit of this, we're going to have to find a way to tuck these little girls in and let them snooze while we visit.

Peeper and A's little H.

Really? And Another.

I took Peeper to the doctor this morning, and got some antibiotics for her ear infection. Yippee.

I've got an appointment bright and too-damn-early tomorrow with my doctor, to try to score some for myself.

So, not feeling too motivated to take photos today.

I swear this one was taken tonight and yesterday's was taken last night. You can tell because the giant bug bite on her side is getting better.

The Best I Could Do

This was taken before she woke up crying that her ear hurt.

Sigh.

A Hard Day

Behind the blogging scenes here, we've been dealing with some second-hand sadness and tragedy lately.

You know our MOMS Club friend A, mom to H and brand-new-baby-N. Three days after N was born, A's 18 year old sister M was in a car accident with five other teens, and despite the valiant efforts of many doctors, including a couple of surgeries, a few days later she lost her fight.

On Saturday, her twin brother graduated from high school, accepting her diploma on behalf of the family, and today they laid her to rest.

I attended the funeral, along with T and her husband (who's been good friends with A's husband for years), and it was as heartbreaking as you might imagine.

If it's your thing, please send your prayers of comfort, positive energy, healing light, and peaceful mojo to M's family and friends as they move through this most difficult of times.
