Staycation Day One

While Shrike slept in this morning, Peeper and I dug up some potatoes from the garden. The little ones went into the crockpot with a roast from the freezer cooking workshop. 

Then we went to the library, to pick up a few books on Australian animals and one about going to preschool.  Then back home for an early lunch from the crockpot, and we were on our way!

Our first stop was supposed to be a carnival, about 30 minutes from home, but we got there early, so we killed some time on the playground.

The park had pretty nice bathrooms, including this little note, where one would expect to find a mirror. Awesome, but we were wishing for a Sharpie, to correct the grammar!

Then, over to a different playground.

And finally to the carnival, where Peeper had a great time on the rides. This is the first time she's been tall enough for them, but you wouldn't have known it. She rode like a pro!

And she made Shrike take her on the "Dizzy Dragons."

No carnival is complete without funnel cake and ice cream, of course.
