Monkey Birthday Party

Peeper was playing with her dress-up monkey (seen here in nakey mode), when she handed me her sock monkey and said "Mama play with other monkey."

"Play with it how?"

"Jump!"

So, we made both monkeys jump for a while, until she decided that it was time for them to "Go sleep on quilt," and told me that hers is the Baby Monkey and mine is the Daddy Monkey.

I think I got it out of her that Baby Monkey has two daddies, but I'm not sure who the other one is.

We put diapers on both of them, and then she started bringing them food from the sunroom. (On the total opposite end of the house.)

First a lettuce, then an onion, and then a breast pump flange.

Peeper: Here go, Monkey. Pump pump.

Mama: Who's going to pump-pump?

Peeper: Daddy Monkey.

Whozat: What's he going to pump?

Peeper: Goodies. (Puts Little Elmo in his lap) Get goody, Elmo.

Whozat: Elmo's getting goody from Daddy Monkey?

Peeper: Has breastmilk.
Oh, well okay, then.

Then, she declared that it was Baby Monkey's birthday, so we sang Happy Birthday to him.

When we finished, I asked, "Who's birthday is next week?" and she said, "How 'bout 'Happy Birthday to Mommy?'" so we practiced that, too.

  1. Well, apparently there have been cases of males breastfeeding, if you can believe YouTube. Peeper's talking skills are now amazing. It's awesome once they can really communicate and they can tell you what they're thinking.
