(I don't think I've mentioned this, but we're going to be watching BabyJ when A goes back to work in a few weeks. At least on a trial basis for about three weeks or so, then we'll reevaluate. We're watching her once a week or so for now to get everyone used to it. This was the first time.)
It went not bad. It was just about an hour and a half, while A went to an appointment nearby.
Peeper was asleep the first 45 minutes or so, and BabyJ was asleep (but in my arms) for much of it.
(A's bringing back some of the places-to-put-a-baby-down type gear before we watch her again.)
Peeper did really well with the whole thing, especially given that when she woke from her nap, I walked in the room carrying BabyJ!
I laid down and we nursed for a bit, while I held BabyJ. I felt bad for her, laying on the other goody (which I could feel letting down) while Peeper nursed, and she was stuck with a dumb old binky, but she handled it okay.
Later, Peeper played around in the living room while BabyJ and I sat on the couch.
She pulled thing out of the carseat and brought me her hat, head support thingy and blankies and made me put them all on her.
It was quite sweet, actually.
The only hairy moments were when Peeper wanted to be picked up and I had to manage that with one arm while holding the baby.
That will be better when I've got a place to put her down, and/or can wear her.
We've actually loaned A the wrap, but she didn't bring it with her, so I didn't have that option.
I tried putting her in the ringsling, while Peeper was napping, but nope. Still can't manage it with a newborn.
Is this a breastfeeding baby? I've heard of some women who will feed a friend's baby to help the mom have some away time. I guess there might be some hygiene issues but some women seem okay with it. Maybe Peeper could share?
I'm just your typical lesbian who met, fell in love with and moved half way across the country to be with the woman of my dreams, writing about life, love and - holy cow - parenting!
Like. How did the babysitting go?

Love it for a toddler hip carry, though!
