Spoke Too Soon!
That Daily Peep photo from the wee hours is of Peeper lying on the floor giggling, after having fallen over backwards.
That really doesn't bother her, nor does she seem to mind falling over to her side, catching herself and ending up on her tummy.
(Except, of course, that then she's mad that she's on her tummy.)
What she does mind, however, is losing her balance when standing up (despite the fact that she's holding Mama's hand!), falling over and bonking her head on the side of her crib.
That requires many tears.
Mostly from Mama.
She actually settled down pretty quickly, was laughing at a toy within moments, and seems to be none the worse for the wear this morning.
If you look very closely, she might have the slightest bit of a bump on her forehead, but it was hard to tell exactly what part of her head took the blow, so I'm not even sure about that.
I, on the other hand, freaked the fuck out.
There were tears, there was the rushing to the freezer for ice, there was cursing and the blaming of the crib.
("Why do we even own this stupid thing?!")
There was mostly the blaming of myself because, not to put too fine a point on it, but she was holding on to my hand. I was supposed to be keeping her from falling down. She fell down anyway, and hit her head.
In what universe is that not All. My. Fault?
Children do that. They fall over. They hit their heads. They are the kings and queens of prat falls. It's never easy to watch as a parent but the good news is they do grow out of the worst of it.
ReplyDeleteJust think your mom doesn't see all your prat falls anymore or she would always be in tears. Probably from laughing.
ReplyDeleteI love you
It's a good analogy for their lives, ya know? I'm supposed to protect Deion from...'stuff'.. and I can't. It took me quite a while to figure that out.
