Happy Mothers' Day!

Dear Shrike:
I know we don't have any big exciting plans for today, but there's no way I'd rather spend our first Mothers' Day - or any day - than the way we started off this morning, snuggling with Peeper, while she had breakfast in bed.

(Note to Peeper: You owe us one!)

I know I tell you this all the time, but I just can't say it enough, it absolutely melts my heart to see the two of you together.

I know Little Missy gave you a rough time for a few weeks there, when she was going through her "Not-The-Mama!" phase and I felt so awful about that, and I am so glad that she's past it (Now she's just "Not-A-Mother!" because either of us will do just fine, until she's hungry.) and the two of you are having so much fun now.

Sometimes, when I'm in the tub, or I've just gotten out of the shower, I like to eavesdrop, and listen to you playing with her, or reading to her, or just talking to her, while she just laughs and laughs and laughs.

That is my favorite sound in the world - my wife and our daughter, laughing together.

Thank you for making it possible.

Happy first Mothers' Day, Sweetheart, I love you!
