We're Home!
I'll write more later, but the short version of the story is that Peeper was discharged from the hospital this afternoon (technically yesterday - Saturday - afternoon) and we got home around 4 pm .
We've mostly been eating and sleeping since then.
Shrike and Peep are asleep on the couch now, and she's not due to eat again for another hour (unless she gets hungry sooner, of course) so I should go try to catch a couple of Z's til then, mysef.
Prematurity and all, she made it home in the same length of time that my Kiddo #1 did after his stint under the bililight.
ReplyDeleteHe was born on July 27th and came home on August 1st. (Back in 1984, for those who don't know.) She was born on October 27th and came home on November 1st. Cool. :)
Hurrah! Home with mamas where she belongs. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteLK - That's kind of funny. I've spent a lot of time thinking/talking about Kiddo1 in the past couple of days, since they put her under the lights, but I don't guess I remembered when he went home. It seemed like more than five days, though.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I seem to remember that the two of you stayed in the same room the whole time; were you discharged before him, like I was, but maybe there were beds available so you could stay in L&D without moving?
Vee - You got that right.
I was not discharged until he was, basically because we were in Anonydaddy's hospital. Insurance didn't balk, probably because I was initially admitted with a diagnosis of pre-eclampsia.
ReplyDeleteBack then, if I had been discharged he would have been moved to the nursery and we would have just been visiting.
In fact, the whole rooming-in with a bililight was unheard of then. We only got that because it was Anonydaddy's hospital too. The staff was really none too thrilled about it, I mean, how could a bililight work while it was in the presence of the baby's mother!?!
Lest there be confusion, it was not anonydaddy's hospital in the sense of a physician-owned, propriatary hospital, but rather a big Catholic hospital where anonydaddy had practiced for years and unofficially "owned" it. More importantly, welcome home Peeper!!! And get some sleep, Mama and Mommie.
