Come Out, Come Out . . .

October 11 is National Coming Out Day, and I always feel like we should do something special, or make some big announcement, but to whom?

Everyone already knows!

As I've mentioned before, I'll come out to pretty much anyone, given the opportunity.

And, by opportunity, I mean that if there's a reason to talk about Shrike, I will, and I will not make it any secret who she is.

If anyone else would talk about their spouse in that situation, so will I.

So far, it's worked very well for us.

I think that, even with people who might be less than nonchalant about such things, my nonchalance rubs off and they at least feel like they have to pretend that it's not a big deal.

And that's a good start.

Of course, most of the people we tend to hang out with are lefty-hippie-liberal type.

I hope this strategy is as effective with the other PTA and soccer moms in a few years.

Struggling with coming out? HRC has some good advice
