A Shot to the Butt

Yesterday, we went over to Shrike's mom's house, so she could show us how to do the intramuscular injections.

I took some leftover syringes and unopened saline vials from my Bravelle shots.

First, she showed her how to figure out where to put the injection (upper, outer quadrant of my butt cheek) and instructed her on loading and preparing the syringe.

Then we were ready to practice!

She actually did a pretty good job, for a first attempt. Her mom suggested that I lie down, so that I can't flinch, and that worked really well for me. I think we'll stick with that.

I sort of felt the needle go it, but it didn't really hurt. I didn't feel her inject the saline at all, but I know that it will be a whole different matter with the real deal - especially the progesterone in oil.

Hmm, I just looked at the vials (which were delivered today) and the estrogen actually looks rather thick and oily itself.

Rah.

So, now I'm waiting for Day 1, at which point I'll give Nurse D (who's taken over for Nurse E, now that we're in the donor egg program) a call and get my exact protocol, then we'll start the estrogen shots on Day 2.

I can't wait.
