Back from the Beach

We're home now, after a family ride along the boardwalk on a bicycle surrey,

and a stop for some barbecue and ice cream,

and a way-too-long drive. (But not nearly as long as last year's trip to South Carolina!)

Of course, last night's visit to the beach was just a sneak preview for today.

On The Beach!

We're at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, with Shrike's family for a couple of days.

We arrived late this afternoon, went to dinner, and then went for a walk on the boardwalk. We also went down to the beach for a little while, because Peeper just couldn't wait until morning to see the ocean.

Yes, it was a little chilly, but well worth it!

Just Some Silliness

Fall?

For the second year in a row, it turned off cool while we were in Texas, but at least this time I was prepared, and left Peeper's sweats in the car when we went to the airport!

Today, she spent some time outside wearing her newly-discovered fuzzy monky pants and enjoying the crisp air.

Then she took her shoes off, talking me into turning on the hose, and got all wet. There was a warm bath to follow.

Ice Cream on the Way Home

For at least the past year, we've stopped at the same Pizza Hut on the way home from the airport. Last time, after dinner, we went over to a nearby Baskin Robbins / Dunkin Donuts for ice cream before getting back on the road.

Three months ago.

Tonight, as we were waiting on our pizza, she looked out the window (which does not face toward BR/DD) and said, "I want ice cream."

I was about to tell her that Pizza Hut doesn't have ice cream, when I remembered what we'd done last time.

So, of course, we did that again.

The next photo I took was of my hand, as I dropped the camera and dove to protect the extended-family jewels. Then there was a discussion of "private parts" and why we don't touch those of other people.

Happy Birthday to DaCousins!

Well, technically, they won't be two until tomorrow, but the big party was today. And I do mean "big." There were about fifty people, including something like fifteen kids. And several animals.
