Ten on Tuesday #26

Ten Places I'd Take a Tourist to See in My Hometown(s)
The first five are places in or near my current hometown, the second five are in or near my hometown.

  1. One of the most famous Civil War battlefields.
  2. Where the most delicious things in the world are made.
  3. Where people in funny clothes and their horses live.

  4. A great place to hike or camp.

  5. A bit of a drive will get us to a zillion museums, monuments and more.
  6. The beach.

  7. The Intracoastal Canal.

  8. A very large statue of the Virgin Mary, especially if it's Christmas time and the light display is up.
  9. Anonymama & Anonydaddy's house!
  10. Again, if we drive a bit, we can see, well, just about anything.

  1. Hey, remember we have TWO really big statues of the Virgin Mary now, although the second one doesn't get nearly as many lights at Christmas.

Oh, and don't forget, we have a really tall bridge to show them too, and just up the road a windmill, and a little further up a giant fire hydrant. OH, and there is always the purple house with the pink flamingo painted on it. Yep, there is never a dull moment 'round here! :D

  2. Oh, yeah, I forgot about Our Lady of the Porcupine.

And the bridge - how could I leave that out!

But I don't know about the giant fire hydrant. Although, I'm sure our pups would be beside themselves.

  3. What about the yard gorilla that gets dressed up for every holiday?

  4. The yard gorilla is NOT in our yard, by the way. Full size gorilla. No idea why.
For folks who do not have such an area at home, an airboat ride through the marshes and swamps to see the sights and the alligators is exciting. Unfortunately the restruant (of favorite of our family) that was located actually overhanging a bayou so that you could watch alligators while you ate was interesting. After dinner you could feed the gators hushpuppies or table scraps. Kids love it, but you keep close watch on them!

  6. The giant fire hydrant is in front of the fire history museum. It's painted like a dalmation. :D
