Congratulations!

Shrike's cousin and her partner had a big, beautiful baby boy last Friday morning.

Weighing in at 10 lbs 11 oz, he was born by C-section after five days of induction!

They got home yesterday and it sounds like everyone is doing well, all things considered.

Welcome to the family, little R. We can't wait to meet you in person!

  2. 5 days of labor to end in c-section?! Eek. That's awful. Congrats to them but my advice to you is that when you have your baby you allow no more than 24 hours of induced labor before you beg for a c-section.

  3. When you are impressed by 10lb 11oz, remember, you were 10lb 7oz. And no section. I remember!

  4. We haven't gotten the full story yet, but I'm hoping that it was 4 days of inducing and trying to get labor started, a few hours of labor and then the c-section - rather than a freaking week of labor!

  5. Hmm, it's that mysterious anonymous commenter again. You know, the one who gave birth to me :-)

You are correct there, Mama - and I suppose I should apologize (again) for that!

And how long did they work on inducing you before I finally decided it was time to come out?

At least in 1968 they had a good excuse for not realizing that a c-section might have been in order.

I don't understand how cousin-if-there-was-a-law's doc was so far off on (not-so-)Little R's size?
